What is IFS Therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a compassionate, evidence-based therapy that helps you understand and heal the different parts of yourself. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, IFS is based on the idea that our mind is made up of distinct sub-personalities or "parts" that each serve a purpose in protecting us and helping us navigate life.
In IFS, you’ll learn to identify and understand these inner parts:
Exiles – The wounded parts that carry pain, shame, and fear from past experiences.
Managers – The protective parts that try to control situations to prevent you from feeling vulnerable.
Firefighters – The reactive parts that step in to soothe distress, often through impulsive or numbing behaviors.
At the heart of IFS is the concept of the Self—your core state of calm, clarity, and compassion. When you connect with your Self, you can approach your parts with understanding rather than judgment, allowing them to relax and heal.
How IFS Can Help:
✔ Creates greater emotional balance and self-awareness
✔ Helps you heal from trauma and emotional wounds
✔ Reduces internal conflict and self-criticism
✔ Encourages self-compassion and inner harmony
IFS empowers you to build a more balanced and compassionate relationship with yourself. By helping each part feel seen and valued, you can create a greater sense of inner peace and emotional freedom.
